Poetic Forms: Epitaphs

Hello Beautiful Thinkers,

I found a poetic form that I’d never heard of before or at least one that I’d never really considered a poetic form. You may have heard of epitaphs, they are the notes meant to appear on tombstones. Since it has to fit on a tombstone, this note is usually brief and often rhymes. The first thing that popped into my head after reading this was the writing on the tombstones of the Haunted Mansion ride line at Disney World. Some epitaphs, like these from Disney, are funny but for the most part they’re usually a serious poetic form. Try writing a few epitaphs of your own today. If writing one for a real person seems too morbid try writing one for an object or idea in your life.

Keep Dreaming Beautiful Thinkers,

The Boy In The Heart Shades
