Poetic Forms: Elegy

Hello Beautiful Thinkers,

You may remember from last time I posted this form that an elegy is a song of sorrow or mourning. There aren’t rules about stanza length, rhyme, or meter with this one. The elegy form is all about the content. Think of something worth morning and then get all poetical about it is the only rule. But today I’m going to challenge you, unless you have a specific sorrow that is in just the right spot to inspire you, write an elegy for something conceptual. An elegy for your innocence, your youth, your freedom, your memories of a certain place. Whatever you choose makes sure that it has a lot of feeling to it, particularly sorrow.

Keep Dreaming Beautiful Thinkers,

The Boy In The Heart Shades
