The Power of Shadows

Hello Beautiful Thinkers,

I love this collection of images called Shadow Doodles by Vincent Bal. The idea that the doodle itself is only the same when the light is cast a certain way to make the right shadow is so cool. In most of the doodles the shape of things is determined by the lines of the shadow. Think of how this can translate into your writing. Describing the shape of something from it’s shadow can clearly be misleading but it’s definitely a useful tool. We’ve seen it before especially in horror scenes the shadow of a tree branch looking like a monstrous arm has been used plenty of times. Write a scene where that borrows this trick of playing with the shapes of shadows.
