Poetic Form: The Golden Shovel

Hello Beautiful Thinkers,

Some of you may remember this form from a previous post of mine. The golden shovel poetic form was created by Terrance Hayes. The idea behind it is that you take a line from a poem that you admire. Once you’ve picked the perfect line you use each word in that line as the end word of one of the lines in a poem of your own making. Keep the end words in order as they were in the original poem. While normally I’d tell you to credit the poet of the original poem, today that won’t be necessary because I’m recommending that you steal from yourselves. Take a line from your own poetry and see how well you inspire yourselves.

Keep Dreaming Beautiful Thinkers,

The Boy In The Heart Shades
