Artpop Released!

Hello Beautiful Thinkers,

Artpop_coverThe day is finally here! Today Lady Gaga’s new album ARTPOP is available in its entirety.  Those of us that pre-ordered the album on iTunes or just follow everything that Gaga releases on YouTube have been slowly downloading a few of the songs over the past few weeks.  YouTube had a one up on the pre-order with a lyric video of “Aura” that doubled as a Machete Kills trailer, but the playing field is evened now.  And it was all just whetting our appetites for the rest of the songs.  I’m sure that all her little monsters are absolutely ‘gasming over the fifteen new tracks!

703140-pop-princesses.gifStill Lady Gaga’s album is only the most recent to be released from our reigning divas.  My question is: whose album will be the winner?  Last the longest on charts?  Sell the most?  Have the most hit singles?  Katy Perry’s Prism was holding on to a spot on the iTunes Top 10 Albums last I checked, but she was behind newcomer Lorde and our favorite early 2000s diva Britney.  And while Miley Cyrus’s Bangerz wasn’t featured on the list, I don’t think we can count her out of the running with all the “provocative shenanigans” she’s been pulling. (Yes, those quotation marks were sarcastic; it’s only provocative because she grew up on Disney channel BTs.) Even Ke$ha, my personal favorite, is trying to stay relevant in to our ADD generation by teaming up with Pitbull on his “Timber” single.  I’m not the only one thinking it either: like so many hot topics, the diva-off got its very own episode of Glee.  Granted it was under the limited scope of Lady Gaga VS. Katy Perry, but it makes me wonder, are these pop divas actually rivals or are they sitting in some room full of platinum records laughing about how their perceived competition is driving up all their record sales? Something to think about.

Keep Learning Beautiful Thinkers,

The Boy In The Heart Shades
