Katy’s Back and Roaring!

Hello Beautiful Thinkers,

Katy-Perry-Roar-500x500I haven’t really been into a lot of Katy Perry’s more recent work.  Really, I was over her when everyone was ‘gasming over “E.T.” So as you can imagine by the time “Wide Awake” was getting all it’s radio time I was ready for her to go back to sleep.  But her new single has me thinking maybe she can win me back. “Roar” jumped to number one on iTunes Top Singles within 24 hours of its release.  That’s a pretty impressive feat, taking down what I was looking at as this summer’s anthem, “Blurred Lines.”

The new single has a lyric video on YouTube that brought a huge smile to my face. (Watch it till the end to find out why.) It seems like lyric videos are becoming the next big thing for artists, which I can totally understand.  I can’t imagine that it costs very much to put out any of the lyric videos I’ve watched recently, so why not, right?  If it’s as cheap as I imagine, it’s no wonder that artist are putting out more and more of these cute and cool lyric videos until they have an opportunity to spend a little more time and money putting together an official music video.  This particular lyric video shows off the lyrics in text message form, replacing some of the words with the iPhone emoticons.  It really is a cute and well-executed concept. Check it out BTs.
