Happy 20th Anniversary Tate’s!

Hello Beautiful Thinkers,

FrontExterior_StorePhotos609As I mentioned earlier I’ve been visiting my hometown in South Florida this past week; this trip happened to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Tate’s, the coolest comic book store in Broward County.  In celebration of this momentous occasion the store had a rain or shine tent event yesterday, April 6th and today, April 7th.  They had some awesome deals on comics, graphic novels, mangas, toys, action figures, t-shirts, DVDs, and other products under the tent.  Inside the store all merchandise was marked down 10% and all back issue comics were marked down 50%.  To add to the celebration they had a bounce house, face painting, food, and souvenir buttons.  They even had an anniversary cake; obviously they know how to celebrate in style.

TATESpatch8bitBut don’t feel bad if you missed it Beautiful Thinkers, Tate’s has been in business 20 years now and based on the turn out I expect they’ll be around for another 20.  Until the next anniversary party rolls around you can always stop in and check out all the fun stuff Tate’s has to offer on a regular basis.  If you’re thinking, “I don’t know, I’m not really a comic book fan,” try to ignore those thoughts.  Tate’s is more than just your average comic book store: it’s a store of pop culture.  Alongside all the classic comics you’ll find weird candies, items referencing movies and television, adorable knick-knacks, and so much more.

Things like Bear and Bird and the Tate’s Belly Rewards program, which give regular customers benefits like discounts and free swag, are what set the store apart from other comic book stores, a difference that hasn’t gone unnoticed.  One of the local papers even interviewed the store’s founder Tate Ottati for this anniversary event.  In the Q & A it was indicated that Tate’s has no intention of stopping now.  They plan to continue expanding to add a café with unique and designer coffees to further improve the overall experience of being a Tate’s shopper.  I can’t wait to see what else is in store for Tate’s future.
